CITY ARMORY 7:00 P.M.
PRESENT: Mayor Schoenborn, Attorney
Benson, Auditor Nostdahl &
Superintendent Schwalbe. Council
Members: Mehlhoff , Mortensen,
Marsden, Fix, Seykora, Lauckner,
Stewart & Getzlaff.
ABSENT: None.
Meeting called to order by Schoenborn.
CONSENT AGENDA: Marsden
moved to approve the consent
agenda with the addition of the special
event permits by the Chamber,
seconded by Getzlaff, carried.
BILLS: Marsden reviewed the list
of bills. Stewart moved to approve
& pay the list of bills, seconded by
Seykora. On roll call all voted yes,
carried.

POLICE: Kent Kossan, deputy
was present for discussion. Items
that were discussed, 216 Calls for
service last month. Monitor Hwy 5
speeding. Current staffing with the
Sheriff’s Office. Drug dog.
WOLD ENGINEERING: Jessica Tagastad
explained the time frame
for the 2026 Paving Project. Special
Assessment letters will be sent
out next week. Marsden moved to
hold the protest hearing for this
project on April 6th, seconded by
Mortensen, carried. Street Committee
will meet next week. If the actual
cost of this project goes over the
estimate there is a chance that the
Flex Funding Grant will cover some
of those costs, but our share would
remain the same.
ERIC HERBEL: Herbel turned in
a petition to place a 1% Sales Tax
on the June 9th ballot. 10% of our
population signed it. If this measure
passes, then a capital campaign
project will take place. The plan for
this money is to fund a community
arena/center. Seykora moved to
place the 1% Sales Tax measure on
the ballot, seconded by Getzlaff,
carried.
COMMITTEE & OTHER REPORTS:
CITY SUPERINTENDENT : No report.
CHAMBER/EDC REPORT: No report.
ORDINANCE:
Ordinance Comm. met on 2/12/26
to discuss Food & other Truck Vendors.
Information & ideas were
gathered. Mehlhoff will get a draft
ready & this will get flipped back to
the Planning Commission.
SHADE TREE:
Met on 2/26/26. EAB disease is
now in Fargo. 36% of our Blvd.
trees are Ash Trees. Seykora moved
to grant approval to the Shade Tree
Committee to apply for an 80/20
grant to remove several ash trees
& replace, seconded by Marsden,
carried. The max grant is up to
$25,000.00 & our match would be
$5,000.00. We would use the EAB
Fund #8330 for the match. A bid
will be placed in the paper for a contractor
to remove said trees.
POLICE COMMITTEE:
Mehlhoff is going to meet with the
County Commissioners tomorrow
to start discussions about dissolving
the Municipal Judge position.
New laws are making it unfeasible
to have a judge in smaller towns.
The Police Committee will meet at
a later date. District Court would be
able to handle all situations. A contract
with the County would need to
be drawn up.
CITY PROPERTY: No report.
PLANNING COMMISSION: No report.
STREET: No report.
UTILITY: No report.
BEAUTIFICATION: Met on 2/10/26
to discuss plans for 2026. Next
meeting in March 9th.
HEALTH:No report.
POOL: No report.
EMPLOYEE: Interviews for the Auditor
position have started.
TRAILS: No report.
FINANCE: 2023 Audit report is
completed & a report will be available
soon. The 2024 Audit will start
in a few months.
ARMORY: This committee will need
to meet regarding the back wall of
the Armory; it needs to be insulated
& finished as the heating bill for
the Armory has been very high now
that the fire hall is gone.
ARENA: No report.
FIRE HALL: No report.
OTHER/PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Getzlaff moved to adjourn the
meeting at 8:35 p.m., seconded by
Fix.
